Jennifer Lawrence is in talks to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s latest western, The Hateful Eight, according to the Collider blog.

It is not known which role the Oscar-winner might take in the Reservoir Dogs film-maker’s followup to Django Unchained, described as a story about bounty hunters who transport prisoners through 19th-century Wyoming. However, the US site claims Lawrence is in active talks, rather than simply being on Tarantino’s casting wishlist.

An early draft of the screenplay for The Hateful Eight was leaked online in January to the Pulp Fiction director’s disgust. Tarantino initially threatened to can the movie, but now appears to be moving forward, with the aim of a 2015 release date.

When the director staged a script reading in Los Angeles in April, the main female parts of Daisy and Six Horse Judy were read by Amber Tamblyn and Zoe Bell. However, Tarantino may have since rewritten the screenplay with the addition of new characters, or Lawrence may have been tapped to take over one of the above roles.

However, The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider yesterday expressed some scepticism over the report.
