Jennifer Lawrence is emerging as young Hollywood’s next “It Girl,” surpassing Kristen Stewart, who held sway at the top of the A-List during the long run of the “Twilight” movie saga. Lawrence is smarter, prettier… and a better actor.

Lawrence and Stewart are comparable in so many ways. Both are 22 and both have been acting from a relatively young age, although Stewart was born into a Hollywood family.

Lawrence was born and raised in Louisville, KY, but persuaded her parents to take her to New York when she was 14 to find an agent so she could pursue acting.

Even so, she still managed to graduate high school two years early with a 3.9 gpa. Stewart dropped out of junior high school.

Her big breakthrough, of course, came in “The Hunger Games.” She played the heroine Katness Everdeen in the 2012 fantasy movie about a post-apocalyptic society that pits 24 teenagers against each other every year in a fight-to-the-death as a tribute to the central government.

The movie raise her profile, but her acting skills were demonstrated by her stunning performance in 2010′s “Winter’s Bone.” Her latest film “The Silver Linings Playbook” debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival to stellar critical reviews. It’s set to hit theaters Nov. 21.

She stars with Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver. In the touching romantic comedy, she and Cooper play two down-on-their-luck people who find each other and suddenly discover the silver linings behind the dark clouds in their lives.

Stewart’s latest movie, “On the Road,” also was screened at the festival to mixed reviews, and she damaged her fan base and image over the summer when her secret affair with married Director Rupert Sanders was exposed by a tabloid.

The source of Stewart’s popularity, “Twilight” is winding down with the last movie in the series, “Breaking Dawn, Part 2″ set to open this month. Lawrence will star in at least two more “Hunger Games” sequels. Both are in demand for fashion features.

Lawrence will cover the December issue of Elle magazine, after appearing in November’s British Vogue. Check out her photo spread above, and click here to follow TheImproper on Twitter for more Jennifer Lawrence updates.
